NASENI Launches Skills Acquisition Programme For Osun Youths

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has commenced a skills acquisition training programme aimed at empowering youths in Ife, Osun State with modern shoemaking and tailoring techniques. The three-day intensive training started on Monday, July 8, 2024, and will conclude on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre in Ife Federal Constituency.

The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, represented by Engr. Dr. Olayode Adesola Olasupo, Director of Manufacturing Services, Engineering Infrastructure Directorate, inaugurated the programme. He emphasized that the training would provide participants with practical experience in contemporary tailoring and shoemaking methods.

Mr. Halilu highlighted NASENI’s role in fostering a robust Science and Engineering infrastructure to drive Nigeria’s industrialization. “To achieve this mandate, critical skill development of personnel is required. It is in this direction that we embarked on the development of NASENI Skill Acquisition Centres across Nigeria. I am delighted to inform you that this NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre, Ife Federal Constituency where we are today, is the first of its kind in Osun State,” he stated.

He further noted that the training aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to alleviate poverty, promote economic growth, and create jobs. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the employability and entrepreneurial potential of the participating youths, contributing to the broader goal of sustainable development in Nigeria.
