In a significant move towards boosting local content and reducing dependence on foreign imports, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has partnered with Imose Technologies Ltd to roll out made-in-Nigeria laptops and tablets. This collaboration aligns with Nigeria’s mission to drive indigenous industrialization and promote job creation, supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda focused on economic revitalization through local manufacturing.
The newly introduced devices include the NASENI Zedon X-Pro, a 14-inch laptop with a Core i5 processor, designed to meet the diverse needs of students, professionals, and on-the-go users, and a 10.5-inch tablet, optimized for tasks such as document editing, drawing, and streaming. Both devices carry the NASENI brand name, signaling the agency’s commitment to advancing local technology solutions.
Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of NASENI, highlighted the importance of the partnership in fostering a self-reliant technology ecosystem. “This partnership with Imose Technologies is a strategic move that aligns with NASENI’s 3Cs principles of Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialization,” Halilu stated. “We are making NASENI a central player in Nigeria’s technology revolution, aiming to ensure that every Nigerian household will eventually own a NASENI product.”
Imose Technologies Chairman, Osayi Izedonmwen, emphasized the company’s dedication to local manufacturing and innovation. “For a decade, Imose has focused on solving Nigerian-specific challenges by championing local manufacturing of mobile and computer devices,” Izedonmwen said. “Our partnership with NASENI is a testament to our shared goal of bridging the digital divide and enhancing access to technology for education and work.”
