The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has empowered 100 youths in Ebonyi State with advanced training in modern electrical installation methods, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The initiative, aimed at wealth creation and job opportunities, concluded a five-day workshop in Abakaliki on November 29, 2024.
Participants were trained in advanced electrical wiring, appliance repair, solar power installation, electrical panel maintenance, safety inspections, and system upgrades. Speaking at the closing ceremony, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, represented by the Coordinating Director of Finance and Accounts, Ibrahim Baba Dauda, emphasized the agency’s commitment to addressing unemployment through skill acquisition.
“The rising demand for quality electrical maintenance underscores the importance of such initiatives. This is the third training in the South-East region, following similar programs in Anambra and Imo states. Inspired by President Tinubu’s 8-Point Agenda, we are creating opportunities for socio-economic development and a brighter future for our youths,” Halilu said.
Participants received startup kits, including state-of-the-art tools like cordless drills, safety gear, wire strippers, and conduit benders. Halilu urged the beneficiaries to utilize the equipment to build careers and avoid selling them, stating, “Your skills will give you identity and long-term opportunities.”
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by the Commissioner for Skill Development and Job Creation, Elijah Okwu Oko Udu, lauded NASENI’s efforts, noting the initiative aligns with the state’s vision for youth empowerment.
“This training not only equips participants with essential skills but also invests in their future, fostering resilience and economic growth,” the governor’s representative said.
The training program reflects NASENI’s broader mission of enabling economic empowerment, fostering employability, and driving national development.
