A notorious terrorist kingpin, Mustapha Abdullahi, and five members of his group were neutralized by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces during an operation in Igabi Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State. The operation, which took place on 31 August 2024, was initiated following an intelligence report that indicated the presence of Abdullahi and his accomplices near Sabon Gida Forest along Sabon Birni Road, with the suspected intent to kidnap or harm civilians.
The NAF 413 Force Protection Group was promptly deployed to the area to locate and engage the terrorists. Upon arrival, the troops encountered the group, who were traveling on motorcycles. The terrorists opened fire on the NAF Special Forces, but were quickly overpowered by the superior firepower of the troops, resulting in the elimination of all six terrorists.
Recovered from the scene were five den guns, a locally fabricated sub-machine gun, live ammunition, and various other items including assorted charms, lighters, SIM cards, and phone cases.
The Nigerian Air Force has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing operations aimed at eradicating criminal activities in Igabi, Birnin Gwari, and surrounding areas. Troops involved in the operation have been commended for their efforts and urged to intensify ongoing initiatives to protect lives and properties.
