The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has emphasized that terminal promotions within the military are reserved for officers who have demonstrated truly exceptional contributions to the growth and development of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). This statement was made during a recent ceremony where Air Vice Marshal Amos Bulus was decorated with his new rank.

During the event, Air Marshal Abubakar underscored that the promotion of AVM Bulus was not merely an addition of another stripe but a recognition of a distinguished career marked by excellence and a deep commitment to progress. “This promotion is about acknowledging the countless hours of work, the challenges faced, and the unwavering dedication to the betterment of our Air Force,” he remarked.

Air Vice Marshal Bulus has been lauded for his pioneering initiatives within the NAF, particularly as the first Director of Information Technology. He was instrumental in implementing NAF’s first online recruitment and enlistment platform, a groundbreaking initiative that revolutionized the recruitment process by making it more efficient, transparent, and accessible. This platform has since become a model within the Armed Forces and beyond.

In addition, AVM Bulus was also recognized for designing the architecture of NAF’s electronic document management and paperless system, further demonstrating his commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation within the service.

The Chief of Administration (COA), Air Vice Marshal Idi Sani, in his welcome address, highlighted that AVM Bulus’s promotion was based on his exemplary record and significant contributions to NAF’s mission objectives. The Air Force Council approved his terminal promotion on June 24, 2024, with effect from August 2, 2024, underscoring the NAF’s readiness to honor its personnel’s dedication and achievements under the leadership of Air Marshal Abubakar.

The promotion ceremony, which took place in the presence of AVM Bulus’s family, friends, and colleagues, also marked the senior officer’s commencement of retirement from the NAF. The event reflected the NAF’s commitment to recognizing and motivating personnel who have shown unparalleled dedication and loyalty to the Service.

The Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, issued the statement to the press, highlighting the significance of the promotion and the exceptional service rendered by AVM Bulus throughout his career.
