In line with his command philosophy aimed at transforming the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for greater agility and resilience, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, conducted an operational tour of NAF units in Enugu and Port Harcourt on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The visit was designed to assess the operational readiness and infrastructural facilities of these units in order to enhance their efficiency and overall effectiveness.
During his visit to Enugu, Air Marshal Abubakar toured the 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group (HCTG) and the International Helicopter Flying School (IHFS). The CAS inspected various facilities and engaged in discussions with personnel to explore avenues for improving operational performance. He stressed the critical need for maintaining high levels of preparedness to address both current and emerging security challenges, underscoring his commitment to the implementation of developmental projects and the acquisition of vital service facilities. “Our goal is to ensure a vibrant and effective service delivery across all platforms,” Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized.
The operational tour continued to the 115 Special Operations Group (SOG) in Port Harcourt, where the CAS reiterated the same objectives of evaluating operational readiness and identifying areas in need of infrastructural upgrades. He assured personnel that improving facilities and equipment remains a top priority, and efforts will be intensified to enhance the operational capabilities of the NAF.
These operational visits reflect Air Marshal Abubakar’s relentless commitment to strengthening the NAF’s airpower capabilities through strategic infrastructure development and comprehensive support in logistics and welfare.
