NAF Airstrikes Decimate Scores of Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno State

In a decisive operation on October 25, 2024, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carried out a series of airstrikes that eliminated scores of Boko Haram terrorists at two key locations in Bula Marwa, Borno State. Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions had identified Bula Marwa as a high-level meeting site frequented by Boko Haram operatives, and further surveillance confirmed a significant increase in terrorist activity, including an influx of motorcycles and gatherings of fighters.

NAF fighter jets were promptly deployed for a precision air interdiction mission. ISR footage captured the terrorists assembling at a rendezvous point on 12 motorcycles, which were subsequently tracked to a primary meeting site. The first airstrike successfully engaged this target area, dispersing and neutralizing several fighters. Shortly after, ISR assets observed terrorists returning to the location to assess the damage and retrieve their wounded. NAF assets launched follow-up strikes, neutralizing additional fighters attempting to regroup.

Additional ISR sweeps in the area later that day identified another gathering of Boko Haram terrorists under a large tree at a separate meeting site. Following verification, a precision airstrike was carried out, successfully targeting and eliminating numerous terrorists.

These operations have dealt a substantial blow to Boko Haram’s mobility and operational capabilities in the region, with multiple fighters and motorcycles destroyed. The airstrikes underscore the ongoing effectiveness of the NAF’s contributions under Operation HADIN KAI, a critical initiative aimed at restoring stability and security to Nigeria’s northeastern region.

Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, emphasized the NAF’s unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s security, stating that the force will continue its precision missions to counter terrorism and safeguard national sovereignty.
