The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) 9 Brigade Chapter, has donated food items and palliative to widows residing in Nigerian Army Cantonment Ikeja in commemoration of Nigerian Army Celebration (NADCEL) 2022

The Coordinator of the NAOWA 9 Brigade Chapter Mrs Ndidi Amaka Akpaumontia stated that the essence of life is to give and when you do not give you will go down.

She further said behind every successful man there is a woman and when that successful man is no longer there what becomes of the wife and children.

According to her: “when a soldier receives salary every month, the wife will always look forward to the salary but when the soldier is no more and the salary is no more forth coming what become of those left behind.

The Coordinator therefore enjoined those still living to always remember to extend kindness their will always make them smile once in a while.

Speaking at the event, the Commander 9 Brigade Brigadier General Isang Akpaumontia noted that there is nothing that would be given to the widows that could substitute the place of their husbands.

He said he felt for them but may not know exactly how they feel because how do one explain the sudden demise of someone you have been together for year.

The Commander urged the widows not to loose hope.

He disclosed that the little token being presented to them was to tell them that the Army still have high regards for them and will not neglect them.

He enjoined the widows to be steadfast, prayerful and courageous at all times and that the spirit of the departed souls will forever remain with them.

In their responses, the beneficiaries thanked the Coordinator and her team for the generosity and expressed appreciation to the Commander 9 Brigade for having them at heart in this trying period.
