MTN Calls For Applications For Fourth Edition of Media Innovation Programme

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, in partnership with the School of Media and Communication (SMC), Pan-Atlantic University, has announced the commencement of applications for the fourth cohort of the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MTN MIP-4).

In a statement on Monday, MTN Nigeria revealed that the programme will begin on May 19, 2025, at the Main Campus of Pan-Atlantic University, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. The six-month fully funded certificate fellowship is designed to provide media practitioners, including journalists and content creators, with deeper insights into the evolving media and technology landscape. The programme also includes an international study visit to the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

“When we launched MIP in 2022, our goal was to enhance media professionals’ reporting capabilities and deepen their understanding of the technology sector, empowering them to become true media innovators. Seeing the impact of the programme over the past three years has been both inspiring and humbling. We are proud to continue this initiative and invite all eligible media professionals and content creators to seize this opportunity by applying for the fourth cohort,” said Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services & Sustainability Officer at MTN Nigeria.

Speaking on the programme’s impact, the Dean of the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, Dr. Ikechukwu Obiaya, emphasized the need for continuous training in the rapidly changing media space. He stated that the university remains committed to equipping media professionals with the necessary skills to drive innovation and uphold ethical standards in journalism and content creation.

At the end of the training, 20 selected participants will graduate as Fellows, gaining advanced knowledge of Nigeria’s technology sector, the intersection between media and technology, and improved content creation strategies. They will also have access to mentorship and professional resources from Pan-Atlantic University’s esteemed faculty.

The MTN Media Innovation Programme is open to practitioners across print, electronic, and online media, as well as social media content creators.
