The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the tragic death of Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin. Hafsoh, who went missing on Monday, February 10, 2025, was found dead in the custody of a man she reportedly met on Facebook.

According to reports, Hafsoh disappeared while attending a naming ceremony after receiving a phone call from a friend. Concerned about her sudden absence, her family and friends launched a search but found no leads. The following day, her parents reported her disappearance to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin, prompting the police to initiate an investigation.

Tracking her last known call led authorities to a suspect residing in the Ofa Garage district of Ilorin, with family ties to Isalekoto. Upon his arrest, the suspect initially denied any involvement in Hafsoh’s disappearance. However, a search of his residence led to a shocking discovery—Hafsoh’s dismembered body hidden in a bowl, along with tools used in the act.

Under interrogation, the suspect claimed Hafsoh had died from an asthma attack after he invited her over. However, forensic evidence suggested foul play, and further findings indicated that this may not have been his first offense. A table in his room was reportedly equipped with dismemberment tools, raising concerns about possible previous crimes.

The suspect, who is said to be the son of a well-known cleric in Isalekoto, remains in police custody at the Kwara State Police Headquarters as investigations continue. The swift response of the police has been widely praised, with authorities promising a thorough probe into the case. Updates, including pictorial and video evidence, are expected as the investigation unfolds.
