The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) is set to recognize excellence in the maritime sector at its 2024 Annual Conference and Awards. The event, scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos, will bring together stakeholders to celebrate remarkable achievements in the industry.
Among the honorees are Comptroller Dera Nnadi, mni, who will receive the award for “Most Outstanding Customs Area Controller of the Year” for his exceptional performance at the Tin Can Island Port Customs Command. Additionally, the Apapa Port Customs Command will be recognized as the “Most Outstanding Customs Command in Revenue Generation and Transformation” for its significant contributions to national revenue.
The event will also spotlight the contributions of two women in the maritime sector, Mrs. Temilade Ogunniyi and Mrs. Nwaeze Theodora, who will be honored for their exceptional performance in their respective roles.
Other notable awardees include the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), which will be recognized as the “Most Transformed Maritime Agency of the Year,” and John Okpono, Secretary General of NMNOWTSSA. Mohammed Aminu Abubakar, Commander of the NDLEA in Kaduna State, will also be celebrated for his contributions.
The conference will feature a lecture addressing the theme of the Blue Economy sector, aiming to educate participants on the activities of government and its agencies in maximizing the potentials and opportunities within this vital area.
