A manhunt and rescue operation are currently underway following an abduction incident along Ifite-Amansea Road, Awka. The incident, which occurred around 2 PM on July 13, 2024, was captured on video and has prompted swift action from the Anambra State Police Command.

Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the assailants and rescue the victims. The police response team has already recovered the abandoned vehicle of the victims. In response to the incident, joint security measures and personnel have been strategically positioned to prevent similar occurrences in the state.

CP Itam has directed the Command’s tactical teams to intensify their efforts in collaboration with the joint security team to ensure the criminals are denied any opportunity to carry out further acts of violence. He assured that the Police Command is committed to leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of the assailants.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, emphasized that further developments regarding the operation will be communicated to the public in due course.

The Anambra State Police Command urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help in the ongoing efforts to enhance security in the state.
