The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebayo, over the alleged murder of his girlfriend in Ijedodo, a community in the Isheri-Osun area of Lagos.

According to police sources, the incident came to light on Saturday, February 23, 2025, when a concerned neighbor reported the matter to the Isheri Osun Police Division. The neighbor stated that on the evening of February 21, around 8:00 p.m., he had witnessed Adebayo physically assaulting his 25-year-old girlfriend for reasons yet to be determined.

The situation escalated when, at about 7:00 a.m. the following morning, Adebayo reportedly screamed for help, prompting neighbors to rush to his apartment. Upon arrival, they found the woman lying unconscious on the bed with visible signs of violence on her body. She was immediately taken to a hospital in Ijegun, where doctors confirmed her death.

Following the report, detectives visited both the crime scene and the hospital, where the victim’s body was inspected and photographed before being transferred to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) morgue in Yaba for an autopsy.

The police promptly arrested Adebayo as investigations into the case continue. Authorities have assured the public that a thorough inquiry will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
