The receptionist of Eagle Rock Garden & Suites, Ago Okota, has been apprehended by police operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos.
The arrest came after allegations arose that the receptionist assisted in the escape of a man known as Mr. Kelvin, who is the prime suspect in the death of a young lady at the hotel.
According to hybridnewsng, the receptionist faces charges of negligence and has been taken into custody for questioning.
It is reported that the receptionist allowed Kelvin to flee with the room key while the young lady, whom he had lodged with at the hotel, was still inside the room.
The tragic incident unfolded at the hotel located on 102 Yale Okeowo Street, off Community Road, Ago Palace area, Okota, Lagos. Kelvin checked into the hotel with the deceased lady at around 11 pm on a Wednesday last week, having paid N9,000 for the room. Later that night, Kelvin went downstairs to inquire about the hotel gate’s closing time, mentioning that he would return soon because his girlfriend was still inside the room.
However, the following morning, hotel management made a shocking discovery when they found the lifeless body of the young lady in one of the hotel rooms. It appears that Kelvin had left her behind and made a hasty escape. Despite their attempts to get a response by knocking on the door, there was no answer. It was only when they peered through the window that they noticed her lifeless form on the floor.
The police at Ago Palace Division were alerted, and they forced the door open, uncovering the deceased lady’s body lying naked on the floor. The discovery also revealed an inhaler and foam around her mouth.
Subsequently, the police recovered the body and took it to the mortuary for autopsy reports. Meanwhile, the receptionist was arrested and transferred to the SCID Yaba, Lagos, for further investigation.
The Lagos State Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department to continue the investigation process.
