In a swift response to a distress call, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have successfully apprehended two individuals linked to a street robbery incident, recovering stolen belongings in the process.
The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Praise Ebube, a phone accessories seller from Obalende, and 21-year-old Ogbonna Michael, a factory worker at Billings Way, Oregun, were arrested around 8:30 p.m. on February 20, 2024. The arrest occurred just moments after they had reportedly snatched a lady’s phone and handbag, attempting to flee the scene of the crime.
Further investigations led to another victim coming forward, recognizing Praise Ebube as the assailant who, on January 24, 2024, robbed him of a Vivo mobile phone valued at N105,000.00 at knifepoint in the same vicinity.
Following their arrest, the suspects have provided confessional statements to the police. CP Adegoke Fayoade, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, has instructed CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, the Commander of the RRS, to ensure the suspects are duly arraigned upon the conclusion of the investigation.
This arrest highlights the continued efforts of the Lagos State Police Command in combating crime and ensuring the safety of its residents. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, has reaffirmed the commitment of the police to maintaining law and order within the state.
The recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of the suspects bring a measure of relief to the victims while reinforcing the police’s resolve to deter criminal activities in Lagos.
