Justice Ibironke Harrison of the Lagos State High Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Bolaji Agbede, the acting Managing Director of Access Bank, alongside other defendants including Balmoral International Limited, DDSS International Company Limited, and Adejare Adegbenro.

The court’s decision came after Uthman Rilwan, the Lagos State prosecution counsel, informed the court that the defendants had failed to appear for their arraignment, despite being served notice.

The Lagos State government has filed a four-count charge against the defendants, including conspiracy, stealing, and attempted theft. The prosecution alleges that on September 2, 2013, at Plot 1261, Adeola Hopewell Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, the accused conspired to use property belonging to MOB Integrated Services as security for a loan, without the owner’s consent.

Further allegations state that on May 26, 2019, the defendants attempted to steal the same property by offering a N1 billion credit facility to DDSS International Company Limited.

These actions are said to violate Sections 411, 280, and 21 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws of 2011.

In response to the absence of the defendants, the prosecution requested the court to ensure their appearance through a bench warrant. Justice Harrison granted the request, issuing a warrant for their arrest and adjourning the case to February 24, 2025, for arraignment.

The court underscored that the warrant applies to the principal officers of the named organizations, stressing the need for accountability in the case.
