In order to ensure accurate identification in the state, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has ordered the immediate closure of all brothels harboring criminals. He has also made it illegal to wear facemasks in public areas.
The governor claimed that his move was intended to reduce criminal activity in the state and maintain Kogi as the safest State in the nation.
In a meeting with the first- and second-class traditional Chiefs, as well as the chairmen of the 21 local government areas in the state, he gave the order on Tuesday in Lokoja.
Additionally, Lokoja, Osara, Zango, Itobe, Obajana Okaba, and all other areas in the state were ordered by Bello to have their shantytowns removed and demolished. Additionally, he mandated the immediate clearance of trailer parks located within 30 meters of right-of-ways.
He suggested meeting with tricycle and motorbike riders for proper documentation with the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Local Government Chairmen, union leaders, and security agencies.
