The Knights of St. John International, along with other distinguished guests, will come together at the Ikoyi Club 1938 to participate in a golf tournament honoring Monsignor John Aniagwu’s 80th birthday. The event, set to take place on April 18, 2024, at the Golf Section of the club, will feature 100 golfers across various categories including Men, Ladies, Priests, and Veterans.
Sir Emmanuel Okene, representing the Knights of St. John International and the event’s sponsors, highlighted the tournament as a celebration of Monsignor Aniagwu, a respected figure in the community and a man who has significantly impacted lives through his ministry.
The golf kitty, an invitational event, aims to pay tribute to Monsignor Aniagwu not only for his longstanding service but also for his passion for golf, which remains strong even as he enters his eighties. Barrister Azuka Ndulewe, speaking for the Rising Golfers Club and one of the sponsors, praised Monsignor Aniagwu as an inspiration to younger golfers and a testament to the virtues of commitment and active living.
Monsignor Aniagwu, the Vicar General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos and Parish Priest of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, has a venerable history of service, including roles as Rector of Saints Peter and Paul Major Seminary in Ibadan, board member of Augustine University, and a senior member of the Ikeja Golf Club.
The upcoming golf event is expected to be a vibrant celebration, reflecting Monsignor Aniagwu’s significant contributions to both the church and the local golf community.
