Kebbi Customs Hosts Emir of Gwandu, Retired Officers, Others To Celebrate International Customs Day 2025


The Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) marked the 2025 International Customs Day (ICD) with a grand event at its Birnin Kebbi premises on Monday, January 27. The ceremony, which celebrated the theme “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity,” featured the Emir of Gwandu, retired senior customs officers, stakeholders, sister agencies, and other dignitaries.

Customs Area Controller Iheanacho Ernest Ojike delivered a lecture highlighting the innovative strategies and reforms that have propelled the command’s successes. He attributed these achievements to policy directions from Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, emphasizing consolidation, innovation, and collaboration. Ojike pointed to the use of cutting-edge practices such as advance ruling, data analytics, and the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program as key contributors to enhanced efficiency.

In his keynote address, retired Deputy Comptroller General Aminu Abubakar Dangaladima commended customs officers for their dedication to facilitating smooth international trade and acknowledged the critical support of stakeholders, sister agencies, and the trading community.

Retired Comptroller Hussaini Suleiman Kangiwa, PhD, emphasized the significance of ICT, inter-agency collaboration, and strict enforcement of fiscal policies in strengthening customs operations and boosting national prosperity.

To commemorate the occasion, the command distributed souvenirs to attendees, fostering goodwill and reinforcing partnerships among key stakeholders.

The event underscored the Kebbi Area Command’s unwavering commitment to efficiency, security, and economic prosperity, aligning with the objectives of the global customs community for 2025.
