In a decisive move to strengthen public safety and security, the Kano State Police Command has ramped up its operational strategies across the state. The initiative follows a high-level security summit convened by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, on May 6, 2025.
The summit brought together tactical commanders and heads of strategic units, including the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Anti-Daba, Rapid Response Team (RRT), Special Operation Squad (SOS), and Dragon unit. The meeting focused on enhancing operational sectorization and boosting the efficiency of crime prevention efforts.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the summit was designed to ensure round-the-clock visibility patrols, improve response to distress calls, and foster intelligence-led joint operations.
Key outcomes from the meeting included the strategic sectorization of the state for enhanced patrol coverage, adoption of coordinated crime prevention strategies, and active collaboration among department heads. The heads of Administration, Operations, State Intelligence Department (SID), and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) played vital roles in reinforcing the state’s security architecture.
“The Kano State Police Command remains committed to improving safety and security in the state,” the statement read. “We urge citizens to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through our dedicated emergency lines.”
