A joint security team successfully rescued three kidnap victims in a coordinated operation along the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway, Ozubulu, in the early hours of March 22, 2025. The rescue, which took place at 7:20 a.m., followed a swift response by security operatives after receiving reports of the abduction.
According to the Anambra State Police Command, the victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention, having sustained various injuries inflicted by their abductors. They are said to be responding to treatment and will undergo further debriefing by the police.
Security agencies were put on high alert after the abduction was reported at Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area. Multiple security checkpoints across the state were mobilized to track and intercept the kidnappers, leading to the victims’ successful rescue.
Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu commended the operatives for their swift action and urged them to intensify efforts to apprehend the culprits. He reassured residents of Anambra State of the police command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while maintaining a sustained offensive against criminal activities.
The police have reiterated their resolve to deny criminal elements any space to operate in the state and have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
