The Joint Security Force in Anambra State has initiated a manhunt for the armed men responsible for the tragic murder of two police operatives during an investigation in Uruagu, Nnewi North, early this morning, October 3, 2024.
According to preliminary reports, the police operatives came under heavy gunfire when they were ambushed by the assailants. Eyewitnesses stated that the armed men began shooting sporadically upon sighting the officers and subsequently hurled an improvised explosive device into the operatives’ vehicle, which ignited a fire. The attack resulted in the deaths of two officers, whose identities are yet to be disclosed.
In light of these events, the Anambra State Police Command is urging members of the public, particularly eyewitnesses, to come forward with any information that could aid the ongoing investigation. The Command emphasizes the importance of community involvement in enhancing security and has assured that all information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
