Ipaja DPO Honours Retired Officers, Newly Promoted Personnel In Style

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ipaja, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Hauwa Idris Adamu, hosted a grand celebration to honour two retiring senior police officers and nine newly promoted personnel at the Ipaja-Alagolo Divisional Headquarters in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos.

The event, held during the division’s end-of-year party over the weekend, highlighted the commitment and service of the Nigeria Police Force.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Musa Usman, the Divisional Traffic Officer (DTO), and DSP Akinyemi Olubisi, the two retiring officers, were lauded for their exemplary service as they prepare to retire at the end of January 2025 after completing 35 years of service.

Additionally, the celebration marked the promotion of nine senior officers within the division to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The newly promoted officers include DSP Abalaka Mary, DSP Apena Lateef, DSP Ikuenomore Akintola, DSP Eguaroje Olusegun, DSP Ayoade Adeleye, DSP Adeyanju Kehinde, DSP Aladegboye Adenike, and DSP Effiong Bassey.

In her address, CSP Adamu expressed gratitude to God and the community for their unwavering support during her four-month tenure. “Though I’ve only been here for four months, the love I’ve received from the community makes it feel like four years,” she said.

CSP Adamu highlighted the challenges officers faced, particularly during the December festive season, when they worked tirelessly to ensure peace and security. “While everyone celebrated Christmas and New Year with their families, we were at work. That’s why I felt it was important to celebrate my officers—they are my backbone,” she added.

The DPO also reflected on the bittersweet nature of the occasion, mentioning the loss of two officers during her tenure. “One of them would have been promoted to this new rank but, sadly, did not live to witness it,” she noted.

Reaffirming her commitment to unity and teamwork, CSP Adamu emphasized the vital role her officers play in the division’s success. “I can’t do it alone. This celebration is to honor their hard work and sacrifices,” she said.

The event underscored the dedication and resilience of the Nigeria Police Force, celebrating both the culmination of long-standing careers and the beginning of new responsibilities for the promoted officers.
