INSECURITY: Police Recover Human Skull, Locally Made Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Launcher, Two (RPG) Bombs, Empty Chain Of Bullet, Single Barrel Long Gun, Amongst Others

“As a civilian and two police officers pay the ultimate price”

In a criminal den at Amukabia, Achalla, Awka south LGA in Anambra State, the Anambra police command discovered a human skull, one locally made rocket propelled grande RPG launcher, two (RPG) bombs, one single-barreled long gun, an empty chain of bullets, one Toyota Sienna, one Mercedes Benz 4matic jeep, two cylinders, a significant amount of hard drugs, and other items.

This was stated in a press release given to Hybrid News and signed by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, PPRO, Anambra State Police Command.

According to the release: “The Toyota Sienna Space Wagon vehicle was stolen under duress on July 9, 2022, in Oye-Agu Abagana, and was later recovered as a result of a counteroffensive operation against criminal elements who had ambushed a six-person police squad and a civilian car tracker on July 15, 2022. Two police operatives and the car tracker were taken prisoner by the criminals, while two police operatives managed to flee the trap.

In the course of the counter offensive operation, police operatives demolished three of the armed men’s camps and neutralized several of their members.

Unfortunately, some of the thugs were wounded by bullets when they fled after killing and setting burned their hostages.

While a police operation is still being conducted in the region to locate the fleeing gang members, the bodies of the two killed police officers and the civilian tracker have been found and taken to a mortuary.

While offering his condolences to the families and friends of the murdered civilian (car-tracker) and the police officers, Anambra State Command Commissioner of Police CP Echeng Echeng described the incident as a classic illustration of the risk and sacrifices the police are exposed to in the difficult task of serving and protecting the country.

He also gave Ndi Anambra the assurance that more is being done to capture and prosecute hoodlums and their allies, and to completely reclaim and control all the public spaces in the State that they have taken over.
