INSECURITY: Delta Eagle-Net Operatives Averts Kidnapping, Recovers Stolen Vehicle, Firearms

According to the command’s Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the Eagle-Net Patrol team of the Delta State Police stopped and searched vehicles on July 8, 2022, along the Sapele-Warri Expressway when they came across an Audi Saloon with registration number QA 480 UGH and two people who appeared suspicious.

They were subjected to a search by the operatives, who found one locally produced pistol and two live rounds inside of them. Joshua Stephen, a 20-year-old man, and Wisdom Obanor, a 21-year-old woman, were detained and the investigation is still underway.

In a related development, the Commander of the Eagle-Net Special Squad, SP Usman Dimka, delegated Eagle-Net operatives to ensure that the kidnapping syndicate’s plan was thwarted and the gang was apprehended on 5/7/2022 at around 1430 hours.

This was done in response to intelligence that the syndicate had perfected plans to kidnap a prominent chief (Name withheld) of the Ogume community in the Ndokwa East

The agents’ tenacity and relentless efforts resulted in the failure of the alleged kidnapping plot and the capture of the gang’s suspected leader, Chukwuemeka Ochu, 27, of Nuke Mba Street, Obiaruko in the Nkwani LGA. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to apprehend the other gang members who are running away.

Additionally, on July 6, 2022, at around 13:47 hrs., along Owawha/Okwagbe road, the Otu-Jeremi Police Station’s operatives on stop and search duty spotted a Lexus 350 SUV with the license plate LG 31 GRA.

When the driver saw the Police, he made a U-turn and sped away. The Policemen became suspicious as a result and gave them a close pursuit. The thieves left the car at Oghior/Imode road in Ughelli South LGA and fled into the forest.

Six live rounds of ammunition, two locally built weapons, one pump action gun, and one were found when the automobile was searched.

Following an investigation, it was discovered that the SUV’s owner had earlier been kidnapped near Ughelli-Warri Road. The fleeing suspect is being sought out by a manhunt.
