Terrorists were defeated by Operation Whirlstrike troops in a bloody conflict. A raid operation was carried out by the army in the CHITO general area, SANKERA council ward, Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State, on July 15, 2022, based on reliable intelligence. During the operation, suspected bandits were encountered.

This information was provided in a news release that Major General Benard Onyeuko, Director of Defense Media Operations, signed on behalf of Defense Headquarters.

When the oncoming troops were spotted by the bandits, they opened fire in their direction. While others fled, troops neutralized 3 bandits with heavy/superior firepower. 18 motorcycles used by the bandits to terrorize the neighborhood were found when troops investigated the criminals’ hideaway.

In a another instance, during a special operation on July 17, 2022, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI made touch with terrorists in the village of PALALE-JAJA in the Katsina State’s JIBIA Local Government Area.

Two terrorists were neutralized by troops after engaging them. Among the items found were two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, six motorcycles, two phones, a clipper, and a few sachets of the drug tramadol.

The military high command applauds the soldiers who participated in Operation Whirl Strike and Operation Hadarin Daji for their accomplishments and exhorts the people to provide troops with more reliable information about criminal activity in their communities.
