The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is gearing up to present its accomplishments in promoting homegrown contributions within the telecommunications industry. This showcase will take place at the second edition of the Nigerian Telecommunications Indigenous Content Expo (NTICE 2023), scheduled from August 22 to 24, 2023, at the Landmark Centre on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Under the theme “Harnessing Indigenous Content for Economic Growth: Cultivating Networks to Amplify Investment,” the Commission is rallying stakeholders for an impressive event, building on the success of last year’s inaugural edition.

NODITS, the Commission’s Nigeria Office for Developing the Indigenous Telecom Sector, is orchestrating the NTICE. This office oversees the effective execution of the National Policy on the Promotion and Implementation of Indigenous Contents in the Telecommunications Sector (NPPIC).

The Expo is an inclusive gathering, encompassing indigenous telecom operators, manufacturers, regulators, governmental bodies, policymakers, innovators, industry leaders, startups, and other key players within the telecom realm. It also extends its invitation to academia and global experts, allowing them to showcase products, services, innovative solutions, and emerging technologies.

Rooted in the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) of 2003, the NCC is authorized to stimulate local and foreign investments in the country’s communications industry, introduce novel services and practices, and foster Nigerian participation in the ownership, control, and management of communication entities. It also aims to enhance the growth of communication manufacturing and supply sectors.

Hence, the NTICE 2023 is aligned with the prevailing provisions of the NCA 2003 and is designed to endorse the four main focuses of the NPPIC: Manufacturing, Service, People, and Research and Development. These pursuits harmonize with the Federal Government’s push to diversify the economy through innovation.

The event acts as a unique convergence of stakeholders, where diverse ideas and perspectives converge, bolstering the utilization of indigenous content within the nation’s telecommunications landscape.

Participation mandates formal registration before the event day. To facilitate this, the Commission has established the link: www.ntice.ncc.gov.ng, and prospective attendees are urged to register prior to August 22, 2023.

In a recent exchange with the NCC’s in-house media, Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, reaffirmed that NTICE stands as Nigeria’s premier annual event in the domains of indigenous telecommunications, technology, startups, manufacturing, and innovation. It serves as a conduit for valuable connections and relationships that underscore the achievements and boundless potential of a tech-driven digital economy.

The 2023 Expo is poised to spotlight the government’s strides in bolstering indigenous content within the sector. Moreover, it will provide participants with a platform to exhibit their offerings, pioneering solutions, and emerging technologies.
