A person pretending to be a police officer was apprehended by the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Ogudu GRA, Ojota, Lagos.
The suspect, identified as Alobo Omokhoa, a 48-year-old individual, was caught escorting a Golf Volkswagen carrying stainless iron to a construction site in Ogudu GRA, Kosofe. Just as he was about to flee the scene, RRS operatives swiftly arrested him.
This was revealed in a statement made available journalists by the Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.
During the subsequent interrogation led by CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, the Commander of Lagos Rapid Response Squad, Alobo failed to provide satisfactory answers that would confirm his status as an active member of the police force.
Upon initial investigations, it was discovered that Alobo had been dismissed from the police force in 2020 due to desertion.
Further inquiry revealed that he had been involved in criminal activities, charging fees to escort cars and trucks transporting goods across various locations in Lagos.
In response to this incident, CP Idowu Owohunwa, the Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command, commended the RRS for their diligent work and achievements. He sternly warned individuals who impersonate police officers in Lagos to reconsider their actions, as they will face severe consequences in the future.
Following the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect will be brought before the court to face charges.
