IGP Visits Kaduna State, Deploys Mobile Unit To Kariga, Assures Safe Rescue of Abductees


The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, embarked on a critical mission to Kaduna State following the recent abduction of school students. Accompanied by senior officers including the DIG in charge of the Force Intelligence Department, Habu Sani, psc, and AIG Police Mobile Force Yekini Adio Ayoku, mni, the IGP’s visit aimed to assess the situation and coordinate security efforts.

During his visit, the IGP met with the Governor of Kaduna State, where he expressed heartfelt sympathies to the affected community, particularly the Kuriga area. He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safe rescue of all abducted students. Assuring both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches, the IGP emphasized the vigorous pursuit of strategies to secure the release of the students and bring the perpetrators to justice.

In a bid to strengthen security measures, the IGP announced the immediate deployment of a full unit of armed mobile policemen to the Kuriga Community. This deployment aims to bolster security in the affected area and facilitate swift action towards the rescue operation.

In response, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, pledged continuous support to the police in their rescue efforts. He assured the provision of assistance and support to the deployed officers, while also urging responsible journalism amidst the ongoing situation.

During his visit, the IGP engaged with police officers at the Police Command and the Police College, Kaduna. Addressing their concerns, he reiterated the Force’s commitment to their welfare and professionalism. He emphasized the need for a service-driven, people-friendly, and rule of law-compliant police institution for a more secure environment in Nigeria.

The Inspector General stressed the critical nature of the task at hand, urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with the Police and other relevant security agencies. He emphasized the tireless duty towards a swift resolution of the present security challenges in the country.
