IGP Urges Swift Action On Insecurity, Tactical Squads Mobilized For Accelerated Operations

In response to the recent surge in insecurity, particularly the abduction incident in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has convened a critical meeting with the Force Management Team and Tactical Squads. The meeting, held on Monday, January 15, 2024, focused on addressing the escalating concerns surrounding security challenges in the country.

Expressing deep concern over the unfortunate events, the IGP stressed the urgency of decisive action to curb heinous crimes. The meeting centered on a comprehensive review of current security challenges, strategic planning, and the deployment of tactical resources to counter emerging threats. Emphasizing a coordinated and intelligence-driven approach, the IGP directed tactical squads to intensify efforts in deploying proactive measures to prevent criminal activities and protect citizens.

To assure Nigerians, especially FCT residents, of enhanced security, the IGP mandated the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Operations, to personally coordinate upscaled security strategies. The goal is to decisively address kidnapping and other criminal activities, restoring normalcy promptly.

Beyond operational strategies, the IGP highlighted the importance of community engagement and collaboration with stakeholders. He stressed the need to gather information, build trust, and foster a collective effort in combating criminal elements.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, reiterated the commitment of the Force to tackling insecurity. He affirmed that the strategic measures outlined by the IGP will enhance security nationwide and restore public confidence.
