IGP Mourns Loss of Retired CP Adebayo, DCP Guri, Extends Condolences To Families



The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has expressed profound sorrow over the recent passing of two esteemed members of the police community: Retired Commissioner of Police Alayeluwa Oba Emmanuel Adebayo FCIA, JP, the Elemure of Emure Ekiti, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Abubakar Mohammed Guri.

Retired CP Alayeluwa Oba Emmanuel Adebayo, who was also a respected traditional ruler, passed away on the evening of May 30, 2024. His dual roles as a traditional leader and police commissioner have left an indelible mark on the nation. Known for his wisdom, steadfast leadership, and dedication to public service, Oba Emmanuel Adebayo’s legacy will be cherished by many.

Similarly, DCP Abubakar Mohammed Guri, who served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Police Mobile Force, Force Headquarters in Abuja, passed away on the morning of June 3, 2024. DCP Guri was renowned for his compassion, punctuality, and unwavering commitment to his duties, making a lasting impact on those who worked with him.

On behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force, the IGP extends heartfelt condolences and prayers to the families of Oba Emmanuel Adebayo and DCP Mohammed Guri. During this difficult time, our thoughts are with them. May the souls of these noble men rest in eternal peace.
