The Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), IG Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has initiated an immediate inquiry into allegations of unprofessional conduct, kidnapping, name-dropping, extortion, and illicit enrichment involving certain officers of the Rivers State Police Command. 

These allegations were brought to light in a petition submitted by Mr. lsrael Joe on behalf of Mr. Atubi Davison. The IGP Monitoring Unit is currently interrogating the implicated officers as part of an ongoing investigation aimed at uncovering the truth behind these allegations and determining the appropriate course of action.

In an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, noted that the Nigeria Police Force is treating these allegations with the utmost seriousness, underscoring its commitment to conducting a thorough and transparent inquiry. 

It further stated that to ensure impartiality and fairness, the complainant, Mr. lsrael Joe, will be contacted to provide further information relevant to the case.

The Inspector-General of Police has issued a stern caution to the public regarding fraudulent individuals who exploit the reputation of senior police officers, including the Inspector General himself, for personal gain. He urges the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of anyone claiming to represent senior police officers involved in any questionable activities. If encountered, such individuals should be promptly reported to the Nigeria Police Force or the Force Public Relations Officer, or they can reach out to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) desk in any state across the Federation.
