The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, paid a historic visit to Delta State on Monday, November 18, 2024, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security, operational capacity, and community partnerships.
During the visit, the IGP met with the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, at the Government House in Asaba, where he expressed gratitude for the state government’s consistent support for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). He commended the Governor for his contributions, particularly the donation of operational vehicles under the “Delta State Operation Sweep” initiative, which both leaders commissioned during the visit.
In a significant move to strengthen public engagement, the IGP officially opened the Police Public Relations Experts Conference in Asaba. Addressing attendees, he emphasized the importance of effective communication in modern policing, urging participants to leverage the conference’s insights to build stronger Police-Community relations.
The IGP also engaged with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organizations, and members of the business community. The discussions provided a platform to address security concerns and foster collaborative strategies tailored to Delta State’s unique challenges.
At the Delta State Police Command Headquarters, the IGP commissioned the newly constructed Police Officers Mess, a modern facility aimed at improving officers’ welfare and providing a conducive space for professional and social activities.
Addressing officers and personnel of the Delta State Command, the IGP praised their dedication to maintaining law and order across the state. He reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare and operational needs of its personnel, urging officers to remain disciplined and professional in their duties.
