IGP Egbetokun Orders Posting of Zonal AIGs, FCID Annex Head, Urges Professionalism

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the immediate posting of four Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to strategic leadership positions within the Nigeria Police Force. This decision, aimed at enhancing internal security and operational efficiency, includes the appointment of AIGs to Police Zonal Commands and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos.

The postings include AIG Suleiman M. Yusuf as AIG Zone 9, Umuahia; AIG Ahmed Ammani as AIG Zone 1, Kano; AIG Zachariah Fera as AIG Zone 4, Makurdi; and AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo as AIG FCID Annex, Lagos. These appointments follow the retirement of some previous Zonal Command heads and the promotion of the former AIG Zone 1, DIG Ari Muhammed Ali, who now serves as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

In his directive, IGP Egbetokun charged the newly appointed AIGs to ensure strict supervision and diligence in carrying out their responsibilities. He urged them to align with the ongoing police reform initiatives, emphasizing the importance of upholding policing ethics and professional conduct. The IGP also tasked the officers with curbing misconduct and fostering a culture of professionalism within their respective commands.

The IGP reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to maintaining law and order while promoting the safety and security of all citizens. The appointments are part of the Force’s strategic measures to bolster its leadership framework and advance internal security efforts nationwide.

The announcement was made in a press release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who highlighted the IGP’s confidence in the capacity of the new AIGs to contribute significantly to the progress of the Force and the growth of Nigeria.

This development underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to effective leadership and operational excellence as it continues to adapt to evolving security challenges.
