IGP Egbetokun Intelligence Department, Deploys ACPs Nationwide

In a strategic move to bolster the intelligence capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has mandated the posting of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to lead the Intelligence Department at Zonal and State Commands across the nation.

This initiative is rooted in the IGP’s commitment to elevate the efficiency and effectiveness of the Force’s Intelligence Department at all levels, aiming to counteract the rising crime rates in the country, aligning with his overarching vision statement.

Upon assuming office, the IGP reactivated the Presidential approval to elevate the Force Intelligence Bureau to the status of a Department, appointing DIG Habu Sanni as the head of the newly established Department of Force Intelligence.

The newly posted Senior Officers have been entrusted with the critical task of deploying intelligence-based assets to combat crimes and criminal activities within their respective areas of responsibility.

The IGP emphasized the importance of professionalism and urged them to leverage their wealth of experience in fortifying the existing intelligence architecture of the Force.

The posting of ACPs to head the Intelligence Department takes immediate effect, underscoring the urgency attached to the IGP’s commitment to strengthening internal security measures.
