The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D. NPM, has reiterated his commitment to enhancing the welfare of officers within the Nigeria Police Force. This pledge was affirmed during the commissioning of a new block of wards and a physiotherapy department building at the Police Hospital, Eleyele, Ibadan, on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
The state-of-the-art facilities in the newly commissioned building are designed to cater not only to the medical needs of police officers and their families but also to extend healthcare services to members of the public seeking assistance at the Police Hospital. The inclusion of a physiotherapy department further expands the hospital’s capacity to offer comprehensive healthcare services and rehabilitation, especially for patients recovering from various injuries.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized the broader impact of the project, stating that it would benefit both the Nigeria Police Force and communities in close proximity to the hospital. He commended the selfless efforts of Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Olakunle Kazeem, who spearheaded the project, ensuring funds were sourced and utilized efficiently for the construction of the structure.
Acknowledging the vital role of ACP Kazeem, the IGP praised his dedication and resourcefulness in contributing to the enhancement of the Police Hospital’s infrastructure. He assured that similar initiatives would be undertaken to upgrade existing health facilities and establish new ones in host communities, aligning with the Nigeria Police’s corporate social responsibility. These endeavors aim to elevate the welfare standards for both Police officers and residents in these areas.
As the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Egbetokun’s leadership continues to prioritize welfare improvements, the commissioning of these facilities marks a significant step towards fostering better healthcare services and support for its officers and the broader community.
