The Inspector-General of Police, Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, adorned recently promoted Senior Police Officers with their new ranks.
The event which took place at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall in the Force Headquarters, Abuja, was filled with cheers from their families, friends, and professional colleagues.
These promotions were granted by the Police Service Commission based on merit, relevant experience, years of dedicated service, and academic achievements.
A total of 38 Senior Police Officers were decorated during the ceremony which included Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) Bala Ciroma and Frank Emeka Mba, mni.
Also, fourteen (14) Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were recognized, namely: Abubakar Lawal, fdc; Alhassan Aminu (Rtd.); Abdul Umar, psc, fdc; Williams Adebowale, psc(+), fdc; Shettima Zannah; Ebong Eyibio Ebong, psc, mni; Adepoju Ayinde Ilori; Okon Okon Effiong, fdc; Echeng Eworo Echeng; Susan Ukpanukiema Horsefall; Bankole Lanre Sikiru; Oladimeji Yomi Olanrewaju; Odama Paul Ojeka, and Shehu Sani Gwarzo.
During the event, 22 Commissioners of Police were also honored.
Several notable figures graced the occasion, including the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Dr. Akon Etim, the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibrin, and other esteemed Members of the National Assembly. Also in attendance were IGP Usman Alkali Baba (Rtd.), Defence Attaches to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, the Force Management Team, serving and retired Senior Police Officers, families of the promoted officers, and other dignitaries.
While speaking, the Inspector-General of Police conveyed his congratulations to the newly promoted officers. He emphasized the importance of carrying out their new roles in accordance with the rule of law and the expectations of citizens.
They were encouraged to demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills, exercise sound professional judgment in their decision-making, and exhibit high levels of strategic management and operational capability. It was made clear that all their actions and inactions would be held accountable.
