The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has decorated newly promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Tunji Disu with his new rank, alongside Commissioner of Police (CP) Bode Ojajuni and other senior officers at a ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The decoration, which took place on Tuesday, was attended by dignitaries, families, and colleagues who cheered on the promoted officers. The event followed the recent promotions approved by the Police Service Commission at the request of the IGP, marking another milestone in the Force’s ongoing reforms.
A total of 20 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of AIG, while 19 Deputy Commissioners were elevated to the rank of CP. Among the newly decorated AIGs were Fasuba Olabode, Musibau Ajani, Aliyu Abubakar, Patrick Adedeji Atayero, Gyogon Grimah, Olaiya Victor Mobolaji, and several others.
Also, the newly decorated Commissioners of Police included Usman Tahir, Sunday Okoebor, Ayodeji Faniyan, Saka Adewale Ajao, Omole Ola, Hope Okafor, Ajo Geofrey Oroue, Olufunke Ogunbode, and others.
The ceremony was graced by notable personalities, including former Senate President David Mark, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (represented by Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan), former Ekiti State Governor Otunba Niyi Adebayo, and former Akwa Ibom House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke.
IGP Egbetokun congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to embrace a strategic and progressive approach to policing while supporting the ongoing reforms aimed at improving the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.
