To address the situation, the IGP has ordered the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olatunji Disu, to intensify security measures across the state. This includes instituting thorough investigations into the killings and the general violence that erupted. The IGP has also deployed operatives from the Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to assist the Rivers State Command in apprehending the perpetrators.

The IGP issued a stern warning to individuals and groups who engage in senseless attacks and the killing of police officers and other security operatives, stating that such actions would be met with the fullest force of the law. He has directed the CP to focus on increased patrols, strategic deployment of officers, and enhanced intelligence operations to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of all residents.

In his appeal, the IGP urged all residents and political stakeholders in Rivers State to exercise restraint and seek peaceful means of resolving their differences. He reiterated the importance of maintaining peace and security in the state to avoid further loss of life and property.
