The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, made a significant visit to Bauchi State on February 14, 2024, emphasizing the crucial role of collective efforts in combating crimes and maintaining peace and security in the region. The visit included discussions with key stakeholders, including Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, CON, where the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to collaborate closely with the government and citizens in ensuring law and order was reiterated.
One of the key announcements during the visit was the assurance of the establishment of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) in Bauchi and other states. This initiative is designed to enhance security measures and address emerging threats, contributing to strengthening the security architecture of the state and fostering a safer environment for residents.
Governor Bala Mohammed commended the dedication and efforts of the IGP in maintaining law and order. He noted the significance of the visit, highlighting that it marked the first time an IGP had visited the state in many years. Governor Mohammed acknowledged the unique geographical position of Bauchi, sharing borders with seven states, and welcomed the commitment of the IGP to intensifying policing activities for effective border security.
During the visit, the Inspector General of Police and Governor Bala Mohammed commissioned several facilities at the Police Mobile Force Base 10 barracks in Bauchi. This included an administrative block with seven offices and a conference hall, a standard quarter guard, an armory, a 50-meter U-shaped road, and an industrial borehole. The project was generously donated by Tiamin Nigeria Limited as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts.
The IGP reiterated that the visit to Bauchi State reaffirmed the NPF’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, promoting peace, and enhancing security across the country. Emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies, government institutions, and the public, he expressed gratitude for the warm reception and pledged to work closely with the state government to promote peace and harmony, not only in Bauchi but also across the nation.
