ICPC Collaborates with DSS on UNICAL Sex Scandal Investigation

Oct 5, 2023

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reached out to the Department of State Services (DSS) seeking cooperation in the ongoing investigation of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) Sex Scandal involving Professor Cyril NDIFON, the former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the institution.

According to an official statement signed by the DSS Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications Dr. Peter Afunanya noted that this collaboration aims to ensure a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the matter.

Recall that the ICPC had previously made several attempts to invite Professor Cyril NDIFON for questioning regarding the sex scandal but received no response. Consequently, based on a court order, ICPC operatives arrested Professor NDIFON in Calabar, Cross River State, on October 4, 2023.

Recognizing the importance of interagency collaboration in such cases, the ICPC approached the Department of State Services (DSS) with a request for support. In the spirit of fostering cooperation among security and investigative agencies, the DSS has expressed its willingness to assist the ICPC in ensuring a successful and comprehensive operation.

This development is aimed at providing clarity to the public regarding the ongoing investigation and to emphasize the commitment of relevant agencies to thoroughly examine the UNICAL Sex Scandal matter.
