A 22 yet old armed robbery suspect, Aaron Uko, who was arrested inside a commercial bus with a gun hiden under his boxers short, has confessed buying the gun from a dealer in Warri, Delta State.
The suspect, was actually on his way to join other members of his gang, for an operation, when he was arrested by officers attached to Dragon 26 and Dragon 29, along Warri/Sapele road, Delta State.
In his confessional statement to the police, the suspect said he bought the gun in 2018 from one Ose.
“I bought the gun from Ose for N27000 in 2018. I buried it inside my room in my father’s compound before traveling to Ghana.
“I was on my way to Warri to join other members of my gang when I was arrested. We were to go for any operation organized by a member of my gang” he said to the police.
Edafe Bright, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, operatives of the Command’s compliance who were acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, during stop and search duty along Warri/Sapele road, intercepted a Volkswagen Jetta commercial vehicle with reg. no. PTN 242 TA, conveying some passengers from Sapele to Warri.
He said the team subjected the passengers to a search, and that during which one locally made cut-to-size gun loaded with two live Cartridges were recovered from one Aaron Uko, 22, of Sapele.
“The suspect concealed the gun in his body close to his private part. Preliminary investigation revealed that he bought the gun in the year 2018 from a man nicknamed “OSE” for twenty-seven thousand naira(#27,000) and buried it in his house before leaving for Ghana.
He was arrested and taken into custody, the exhibit recovered, and investigation is ongoing” he said.
