GUNSHOT IN UKWULU LINKED TO SIBLING DISPUTE: Police Arrest Two, Recover Weapons

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed that a gunshot incident which occurred in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, on the evening of April 12, 2025, was the result of a dispute between siblings.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu-Ukwu, responded promptly to the scene, preventing further escalation. The officers rescued a victim who sustained a gunshot injury and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one pistol, and six rounds of live ammunition from the scene. Two suspects were also arrested in connection with the incident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the altercation arose from a longstanding disagreement between the victim and his brother, who allegedly involved another accomplice in the attack.

The injured victim was rushed to the hospital and is said to be responding well to treatment, while the arrested suspects are undergoing police interrogation.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for in-depth investigation. The Police Command has assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace and security across the state and urged residents to always report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
