GTCO Food & Drink Festival 2025 Kicks Off With Flavour, Flair, & Family Fun

The much-anticipated GTCO Food and Drink Festival 2025 sprang to life on May 2 at the GTCentre in Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of food lovers, culinary professionals, and global chefs into a vibrant celebration of taste, talent, and tradition.

This year’s edition opened with an energetic blend of entertainment and education, setting the tone for a festival designed to inspire and engage. Among the highlights of the opening day was a captivating children’s masterclass led by Chilean-born Chef Christian Duhalde, the creative director of La Taverna, a Spanish and Latin American-themed restaurant based in Lagos.

With nearly three decades of international culinary experience across Latin America, Europe, Oceania, and Africa, Chef Duhalde brought a wealth of knowledge and flair to the stage. He guided children through the art of pizza making, using a step-by-step approach that turned simple ingredients into gourmet creations. The session served as both an educational tool and a treat for young aspiring chefs.

Speaking during the session, Chef Duhalde emphasized the importance of introducing children to culinary skills early. “Introducing kids to the kitchen during their formative years allows them to absorb every experience. It builds passion, creativity, and even influences their future career paths,” he said, sharing insights from his personal culinary journey that began in childhood.

Over the last 12 years, Duhalde has earned a reputation in Nigeria for his expertly crafted dishes and high-profile dining experiences, including private events at Aso Rock, the country’s presidential villa. His award-winning approach combines global techniques with local ingredients to create memorable dishes.

The 2025 GTCO Food and Drink Festival promises an immersive experience throughout its run, featuring a rich array of cultural delicacies, expert-led masterclasses, wellness and nutrition talks, and culinary innovations that bridge tradition and modernity.

As the festival unfolds, it offers more than just a feast for the senses—it serves as a melting pot of learning, discovery, and community for food enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
