Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has signed six new laws into effect, marking a strategic push to enhance economic growth, strengthen security, and improve healthcare and education in the state.

The signing ceremony was held at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia on Thursday, April 10, 2025, and was attended by key government officials, including the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, and the Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme.

The newly signed laws cover a broad spectrum of development priorities. Among them is the Anambra State Development and Investment Corporation Law, 2025, which aims to attract investments and stimulate economic activities across the state. Also signed into law is the Anambra State Electricity Law, 2025, designed to strengthen energy infrastructure and improve electricity access for residents and businesses.

In the area of security, Governor Soludo signed the Anambra State Homeland Security (Amendment) Law, 2025, targeted at reinforcing the state’s security architecture and enhancing public safety protocols.

Recognizing the value of traditional medicine, two new laws—Anambra State Herbal Practice Law, 2024 and Anambra State Indigenous Traditional Medicine Practices Law, 2025—were also enacted to integrate and regulate indigenous medical practices within the state’s healthcare system.

In the health education sector, the Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (Amendment No. 2) Law, 2025 was signed to raise the standards of nursing and midwifery training, ensuring better healthcare delivery in the long term.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Soludo commended the collaborative synergy between the executive arm and the State House of Assembly. He emphasized that the new legislations are essential building blocks in his administration’s vision of a liveable, prosperous, and smart Anambra State.

“These laws are strategic instruments that will support our development agenda, improve the lives of our people, and lay the groundwork for a brighter future,” Soludo stated.

With these legal frameworks now in place, Anambra State is poised to witness transformative strides in governance, investment, security, healthcare, and education.
