Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian Customs Service and the family of the officer who tragically lost his life in an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Geidam on Saturday.
Governor Buni described the attack on the Customs facility and the loss of the officer as a sorrowful and regrettable incident.
“It is indeed distressing that we are confronted with this unfortunate event at a time when we have been enjoying a period of relative peace throughout the state.
“Our courageous security personnel have undoubtedly been diligent in ensuring the safety of lives and property within the state.
“However, this unfortunate attack serves as a reminder to all of us to remain vigilant and not become complacent due to the peace we have been experiencing. We must be prepared for unexpected challenges,” Governor Buni remarked.
He extended the sympathy and condolences of the government and people of Yobe State to the Nigeria Customs Service, the Controller General, and the family of the fallen officer.
Governor Buni assured the continued commitment of his administration to collaborate with security forces in the state to further enhance the prevailing peace.
He also offered his prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased officer and strength for his family to bear this irreparable loss.
The Governor called upon the residents of the state to provide timely and valuable information to the government and security agencies regarding any suspicious individuals or activities in their communities.
