Nestlé Nigeria’s iconic breakfast cereal, Golden Morn, has introduced a new sustainable packaging, reinforcing its dedication to providing nutritious food while championing environmental responsibility. This significant development aligns with Golden Morn’s over three-decade legacy of nourishing Nigerian families and its commitment to sustainability.
The new packaging reflects Nestlé’s global vision to make over 95% of its plastic packaging recyclable by 2025. Crafted with sustainability in mind, the packaging uses materials that are easier to recycle, thus reducing environmental impact and promoting a circular economy.
Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director of Nestlé Nigeria, emphasized the company’s dual responsibility in delivering nutritious products and safeguarding the planet. “Today, over 80% of all Nestlé’s packaging in Nigeria is optimized for recycling, and we are pleased that Golden Morn’s packaging has been upgraded to a recyclable laminate from the previous aluminum foil. By embracing recyclable materials, we are not only minimizing waste but also reinforcing our leadership in environmental stewardship within the industry,” Elhusseini stated.
Golden Morn, a staple in Nigerian households for more than 38 years, is made from locally sourced maize and soya. It is rich in essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, B1, B5, C, and iron. The new 100% recyclable laminate packaging underscores the brand’s commitment to both nutrition and sustainability.

Golden Morn’s commitment extends beyond nutrition to local sourcing, with 100% of its maize and soya sourced from Nigerian farmers. This partnership ensures the freshness and quality of its ingredients while supporting the local economy and empowering farming communities.
