Gbajabiamila Praises NASENI For Technological Advancements, Innovations

The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has lauded the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its significant technological advancements and product innovations that have positively impacted various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

During a familiarization visit to the agency on August 22, 2024, Gbajabiamila, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff Senator Ibrahim Hadeija and Permanent Secretary of the State House Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi, expressed his admiration for NASENI’s efforts. He took the opportunity to test drive the agency’s electric vehicle pick-up van and toured several facilities, including the NASENI Hatch Box, Innovation Hub, and Solar Irrigation Pump. He also viewed new products developed by the agency, such as home solar systems, prepaid meters, laptops, smartphones, and batteries.

This visit aimed to engage with government agencies supervised by the Presidency to understand their mandates, activities, and challenges, as well as their alignment with the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

After inspecting the NASENI Complex in the Idu Industrial Area, Gbajabiamila expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received from the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, and the management team. He remarked, “I am glad I embarked on this trip. The whole idea behind this visit was to hear firsthand about your activities, the challenges you face, and how we can address any gaps.”

Gbajabiamila noted the impressive progress NASENI has made under Halilu’s leadership since he assumed office in September 2023, stating, “The impacts of Mr. Halilu have translated into numerous products in just 11 months, which speaks volumes about his commitment, dedication, and passion.”

He emphasized the importance of NASENI in advancing Nigeria’s technological capabilities, stating, “We are in a technology-driven age, and NASENI is key to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to elevate Nigeria among the nations of the world in science and technology advancements.” He acknowledged the country’s potential in both material and human resources, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s young, innovative workforce.

Earlier, Halilu detailed NASENI’s recent innovations, interventions, and partnerships aimed at promoting technology transfer and aligning with the President’s goals. He attributed the agency’s achievements to the support and guidance of Gbajabiamila and President Tinubu, stating, “We have embarked on a transformative journey characterized by an accelerated push towards technological independence and industrial growth.”
