In a bid to foster digital transformation and strengthen inter-agency collaboration, Galaxy Backbone Limited on Thursday, May 2, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network (NCBN) at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Headquarters in Abuja.
The visiting delegation, led by Mr. Ifeatu Anafulu, Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence at Galaxy Backbone, was warmly received by the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Assistant Comptroller of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada.
During the visit, Mr. Anafulu noted that Galaxy Backbone, as a government-owned provider of ICT infrastructure, aligns with the Nigeria Customs Service’s ongoing digital transformation under the Trade Modernisation Project (TMP). He expressed the company’s readiness to support Customs in key areas including cloud storage, secure internet connectivity, data backup, and cybersecurity.
“We understand that Customs is currently undergoing a major transformation under the Trade Modernisation Project, and as an agency that provides backbone ICT infrastructure for the Federal Government, we are here to explore how we can add value to your operations,” Anafulu stated. “Galaxy Backbone has the capacity to support your evolving digital needs.”
He emphasised that robust data management and secure communication are essential in today’s global trade environment, where digital tools and cross-border integration play a vital role in Customs administration.
Responding, Assistant Comptroller Maiwada appreciated the Galaxy Backbone team for their forward-looking approach and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to leveraging partnerships for technological advancement.
“The Nigeria Customs Service is undergoing a comprehensive technological revolution anchored on the Trade Modernisation Project,” he said. “At the heart of this reform is the deployment of an indigenous platform, B’Odogwu, a Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), which we built from ground zero.”
Maiwada explained that B’Odogwu is designed as a fully integrated digital ecosystem to streamline trade processes, reduce manual intervention, and promote accountability through data-driven operations. He noted that partnerships with organisations like Galaxy Backbone are vital for ensuring the reliability and scalability of the Service’s digital infrastructure, including support for the Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network.
The visit ended with a guided tour of NCBN facilities by the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Abubakar Ardo, who showcased the studio’s broadcast, editing, and production capabilities.
Mr. Ardo described NCBN as a strategic communication arm of the Service committed to projecting the reform agenda, enhancing public awareness, and creating a niche in the multimedia and business communication landscape. He expressed optimism about future collaborations with Galaxy Backbone to enhance NCBN’s technical capacity and outreach.
