Fidelity Bank Boosts Leadership With Key Board Appointments

Fidelity Bank Plc has announced significant changes to its Board of Directors, reinforcing its leadership team to sustain the bank’s impressive growth trajectory. The appointments, effective January 14, 2025, were approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

In a regulatory filing with NGX Regulation Limited, the bank confirmed the appointments of Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki Mohammed as an Independent Non-Executive Director, Ms. Obiaku Augusta Okam as a Non-Executive Director, and Mr. Sufiyanu Ibrahim Garba as an Executive Director.

Alhaji Mohammed brings over 36 years of experience in financial services, public administration, and human resources development, having held leadership roles at First Bank of Nigeria Plc and Polaris Bank Limited.

Ms. Okam has over three decades of experience in banking, financial services, real estate, and retail. Currently the Managing Director/CEO of Skycurve Nigeria Limited, she previously held leadership positions at Zenith Bank Plc and Citibank Nigeria.

Mr. Garba, with more than 30 years of experience, has served in key roles at Access Bank Plc, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, and Keystone Bank Limited. His career spans banking, financial services, public service, and business management in Nigeria and the UK.

Mustafa Chike-Obi, Chairman of Fidelity Bank Plc, welcomed the new appointees, saying, “The Board is excited to leverage the wealth of experience these distinguished individuals bring to drive the bank’s strategic objectives and sustain its growth momentum.”

In a separate filing on January 16, 2025, the bank announced the retirement of Alhaji Isa Mohammed Inuwa, a former Independent Non-Executive Director, and Mr. Chidi Agbapu, a former Non-Executive Director, after the completion of their tenures. Fidelity Bank expressed appreciation for their meritorious service and wished them success in future endeavors.
